Being a mentor is a meaningful way to stay connected, give back, and support someone who may be facing many of the same challenges you once did. While the mentor’s main role is to support their mentee, mentors often find that the relationship brings a renewed sense of purpose, belonging, and encouragement to their own recovery.
What Mentorship Offers:
Give back by using your lived experience to offer hope, encouragement, and perspective to newer alumni
Build a stronger sense of purpose, connection, and belonging within the ViaMar alumni community
Strengthen your own recovery through continued involvement, accountability, communication, and healthy boundaries
Receive ongoing support from the Mentor Chair and connect with other mentors during monthly meetings
Help newer alumni feel understood, supported, and less alone after treatment
***Mentors are not supposed to have all of the answers!!! ***
